Black History Month Spotlight: Waleed Yual
CBC celebrates Black History Month 2026 with stories from students!
Meet Waleed Yual, 4th year Chemistry PhD student. Waleed is teaching for Honors General Chemistry. He has also been a Teaching Assistant for Analytical Chemistry. Waleed’s duties this semester are being in class with Professor Oliver Monti and walking around assisting students learn. He also is a TA for a lab section for Honors Gen Chem.
His favorite part of being a TA is engaging with students and helping them grow their curiosity and collaboration.
Waleed shares an inspiring quote: "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."
This quote captures the most meaningful moments Waleed has experienced with students-when they apply a technique in the lab or grasp a concept from class and experience their “aha” moment.
