Harold Boone is the R&D Director for Intellectual Capital Management for the Packaging and Specialty Plastics and Hydrocarbons Division of Dow.    He joined Dow in 1996 in Dow’s Central Research laboratories investigating thermally stable perfluoroaryl ether polymers with high optical clarity for interlayer dielectric applications.  In 2001 he joined the Polyolefins Research Catalyst group investigating post-metallocene catalysts for isotactic polypropylene polymerization where he co-discovered Dow’s first heterocyclic pyridyl amine olefin polymerization catalyst.    In 2006 he became the Sr. R&D Manager for Dow’s Corporate R&D Catalysis Group.  Under his leadership the team successfully developed and commercialized Dow’s first generation of post-metallocene catalysts.  These catalyst systems found utility for their production efficiency across multiple Dow product lines including NORDEL™, ENGAGE™, ENGAGE™ PV, AFFINITY™, VERSIFY™, and ELITE™, and ELITE AT.

He led the polyolefin global catalyst supply team and external supplier diversification programs during this period.   In 2009 he was named Dow Specialty Plastics Process R&D leader to lead the Process and Pilot Plant organization for the Specialty Plastics businesses.  He oversaw the complete global implementation of new catalyst systems across the Specialty Plastics businesses.  In 2011 he was named the Dow Elastomers Product R&D leader where he established and built the Product R&D group and lab capabilities in Shanghai, China.   In this role he actively developed a diverse team of people in both Texas and Shanghai that successfully developed and commercialized many new innovative products and technologies. In 2012, he added responsibilities for the compounding and extrusion capabilities of Packaging and Specialty Plastics Division. In 2022 he was named to his current role as R&D Director for Intellectual Capital Management.
