A dual-source Bruker D8 Venture diffractometer has arrived at the X-ray diffraction facility! Dr. Andrei Astashkin has completed the installation with an engineer from the manufacturing company, and the instrument is fully operational.

This diffractometer greatly enhances our analysis capabilities, particularly for small crystals, and shortens our data collection times. In fact, the Njardarson and Tomat labs have already collected their first data sets during installation week!

This acquisition was made possible by a National Science Foundation Major Research Instrumentation grant (CHE 2117516) awarded to Dr. Elisa Tomat and colleagues Drs. Njardarson, Gianetti, Kong (Physics) and Wang (Pharmacy), with cost-sharing support from the UArizona Office for Research, Innovation and Impact, the College of Science, and CBC.
