CBC Alumni Joseph Carroll

Dr. Joseph Carroll is a board-certified trauma surgeon at Hennepin County Medical Center with a deep commitment to caring for the acutely injured. He earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from the University of Arizona in 2007, where he was recognized as a Galileo Scholar.  He went on to receive his medical degree from the University of Arizona in 2012. 

Dr. Carroll completed his General Surgery residency at Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners in 2017, followed by advanced fellowship training in trauma and acute care surgery at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, which he completed in 2019. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Carroll has received numerous teaching awards and authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. His clinical interests include trauma resuscitation, surgical critical care, and medical education. 

He lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Dr. Jennifer Carroll, a breast surgical oncologist, and their two children, Luke (7) and Maggie (5).
