20th Annual BioPhest Conference

When

8 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 6, 2023

The Arizona State University Center for Biological Physics and the University of Arizona Biological Physics Program (BPP) will host the 20th Annual Biophest conference on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m at Arizona State University.

The Biophest is a student-driven and student-organized conference and it is currently in its 20th year.  This annual event, hosted alternately by the UA and ASU, is a one-day symposium of researchers who work at the interface of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.  The conference entails both platform and poster presentations by graduate (or undergraduate) students, post-doctoral scientists, and faculty.  The meeting brings together cutting-edge Biophysics work at the two Arizona universities to stimulate communication, collaborative research, and funding opportunities.

This year’s event will take place at Arizona State University.  The Biophest includes breakfast, lunch and refreshments.  Breakfast and coffee socializing and networking will begin at 8:00 a.m.  After the opening remarks, the scientific program will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a keynote lecture hosted by the Arizona Biophysical Society Student Chapter.  Given the current schedule, we will conclude at 5:00 p.m. with a Poster Award Ceremony and awarding of prizes.

You are invited to register (free!) for the event and to submit an abstract.  You can choose the preferred presentation type: platform talk, poster, or either.

Please find the registration link below and forward this link to your students and group members. Graduate students  and postdocs will be preferentially selected for oral presentations, if they choose to select this option. We also look for UA and ASU students to volunteer as session chairs.  We will accommodate as many platform presentations as time permits.  A final schedule will be circulated following the registration deadline.  Poster awards will be announced at the end of the Biophest!!

Please register using the following link: https://forms.gle/EWU73gqG25Fn78dh6

E-mail your abstract to: CBP_STC@asu.edu

Deadline for abstract submission and registration: Monday, April 24, 2023.

Abstract word limit is 300 words including title and abstract text.  If there are corrections to a previously submitted abstract, then re-submit and the most recent version will be used.

We look forward to welcoming you to the next stimulating and exciting Biophest.  Please feel free to distribute this email and flyer to any and all biophysics aficionados!
