Services

The CBC Electrical Engineers are skilled at helping researchers to develop ideas into complete designs and ultimately into working instruments. They are able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of electronic equipment, saving research groups from having to replace expensive equipment when possible. The Engineers routinely design simple parts or entire new systems and provide a variety of services and materials including:

  • High Voltage Power Supplies and Systems
  • Radio Frequency Equipment
  • Cryogenic Systems
  • Motion Control Programmable Interrupt Controller (PIC) micro-controller embedded systems
  • Programmable Gate Arrays (PGA)
  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP)
  • Efficient design, modeling, and layout of circuit boards for all types of applications
Electronics Shop Workshop

Education/Outreach

The Electronics Facility runs an annual graduate student hands-on workshop called "Basic Electronics for Research Labs."  The workshop is an opportunity to build small electronic projects as a mechanism to learn basic electronic knowledge and skills. This year we will add Microcontroller projects to explore modern electronics.  The class will be taught by the shop's senior electrical engineers within a friendly atmosphere and practical hands-on setting. The class material will cover basic electrical and electronic theory, components, basic circuity, semiconductor chips, microcontroller, electrical safety, troubleshooting techniques, etc. In 2022, we will added Microcontroller projects to explore modern electronics. Contact the shop manager to learn more about this workshop.
