I am currently a 3rd year biochemistry PhD student at the University of Arizona. I am interested in studying the biophysical properties of viral membrane proteins and their interaction with small molecule inhibitors. My current research has been on the M2 channel, which plays an important role in the flu virus lifecycle. I hope my research can help us better understand its role during infection and how we can develop new ways to interfere with it. The University of Arizona has been a great place to study and, as an avid cyclist, I love how easy it is to hop onto the bike trails from campus for a weekend ride. I am thankful for the supportive faculty and staff in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and I’m honored to be a recipient of the John Hostetter award.
