I am currently a 4th year graduate student working towards a PhD in Analytical Chemistry under Dr. Craig A. Aspinwall doing bioanalytical chemistry research. I’ve previously earned my B.S. and M.S. in Chemistry at Ateneo de Manila University, back in my home country – the Philippines. My current research is focused on chemo/biosensor development, which involves interdisciplinary work in the fields of analytical chemistry, material science, and biochemistry. Specifically, I am working on developing radioisotope-responsive sensor platforms for bioanalysis, with the aim of developing new analytical tools to monitor biologically relevant analytes and help get better understanding of biological processes. Outside of research, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of the Alpha Chi Sigma Professional Fraternity and also serve as a committee member for the CBC Recruiting and Admissions Committee and the CBC TA Evaluation Committee. In my spare time, I enjoy playing volleyball, trying different food cultures, and traveling. In the near future, I hope to use the training I received from the University of Arizona to achieve my goal of doing biomedical research and explore working on theranostics – an emerging field that combines diagnostics with therapeutics.
